We define how the degree revalidation process means that in addition to the academic report and evaluation, additional training and education is included to prepare the NAFA student for a final state examination to practice their general license. NAFA offers its degree revalidation program in three (3) different careers: general practice law [or foreign legal consultant (FLC)], teaching certification or business administration.

How can a lawyer practice in any other state, if they passed the California Bar exam? The answer is yes - through what known as reciprocity. Reciprocity between States for lawyers. The Bar for attorneys licensed in other jurisdictions. The process in Washington D.C. It is called Admission by Motion [same in some other States]. Lawyers can be admitted in two ways, passing the bar exam and/or admission by motion without having to take the exam in States in which there is reciprocity with the State in which the lawyer passed. exam and is admitted to practice - in this case, reciprocity with California. NAFA offers a study programme to assist foreign attorneys in passing the Bar Exam while preparing the foreign attorney for approval from the State Bar to take exam, known as the Bar Review Course, please review for more information.
Alternative choice without having to take an examination, is the Foreign Legal Consultant (FLC) path, which numerous states offer based on each State Bar's International Law Section if state reciprocity allows for it. NAFA offers a study program for Foreign Legal Consultants as well, to prepare them for a complete certification through the entire process. Please review our Certifcation section for more information on reciprocity.
In the case of foreign professionals who want to pursue a career within the United States in education need to undergo the revalidation process, as required by the state and the agency or department dependent on the state.
Foreign professionals who wish to continue as applicants to become Florida educators must follow the Steps for Certification, which includes: submitting a CG-10 application package form, a processing fee, and official documentation of degrees and credits.
Foreign applicants who completed academic training outside the United States must submit the required documentation translated into English with the completed CG-10 application form and processing fee. Additional information is provided for non-U.S. citizens who want to become teachers certified by the Department of Education - Foreign Trained Grads. The main requirement required by the Florida Department of Education, is the Credential evaluation report of United States equivalency, which in joining NAFA, we immediately provide upon membership via UNPAM and it's homologation services.
For a more detailed explanation regarding our process for homologation and study program for teachers, professors, and educators - Education for Teachers and Professors, to learn more.
The body in charge of regulating some of the titles is the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), other bodies are Boards (BOARDS) and Colleges (BARS) that from the state capital, operate with divisions for each branch and in total controls 21 professions and their related services. Health professions are regulated by the Department of Health, while teachers and professors are regulated by the Department of Education. The same goes for engineers who are supervised by the Board of Professional Engineers, lawyers regulated by the Bar and the Board of Law Examiners, as well as architects and interior designers who have their own separate board.
The procedures to “revalidate” each degree differ in times, types of exams to be taken, and costs. The most complex is medicine. Foreign doctors who wish to practice in Florida - and in general in the United States - face a long process divided into several stages.
But there are also professions that do not require licenses or certifications, only academic equivalencies to practice in the United States. As well as graphic designers, journalists, merchants, public relations specialists, technicians or graduates in computing and systems analysis, as well as artists (musicians, dancers, actors, writers, announcers, painters, etc.), marketing experts, chefs, among others.
