In the case of foreign professionals who want to pursue a career within the United States, for example, in education. They then need to undergo what is known as a revalidation process, as required by the State and the agency or department dependent on the state. One main requirement is the foreign credential evaluation, which is provided by services UNPAM - please visit our Homologation section for more information.
The credential evaluation report includes a breakdown of the graduate's academic history, course by course. A profile is developed for the graduate based on his or her foreign academic transcripts, which must include descriptive course titles and semester-hour credits. The following is an excerpt that the credential evaluation report is required for foreign-trained graduates, according to the Florida Department of Education:
• an accredited four (4) year college or university in the United States
• a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES)
• a credential evaluation agency approved by the Office of Educator Certification.
Foreign professionals who wish to continue as applicants to become Florida educators must follow the Steps for Certification, which includes: submitting a CG-10 application package form, a processing fee, and official documentation of degrees and credits.
It is discussed and strongly recommended to all NAFA members and foreign professionals interested to begin by reviewing Homologation section and then to contact NAFA, to begin the process first, which includes requesting and receiving a certification evaluation and foreign credentials as soon as possible to begin the homologation process while residing within the United States.
Submit to the examination processes with the authorities and/or the DBPR and without the need to REVALIDATE. They only need to have their academic documentation from abroad, evaluated in the form of an approval so that these credentials have the same validity in the United States.
If the profession is not listed among those regulated by the DBPR, it is most likely that you do not need a license or special certification to practice. But when in doubt, it is best to call and make sure 850-487-1395 (they have an informative menu in English and Spanish, but generally the operators speak in English, although you can ask for one who assists you in Spanish, if available) or connect to the DBPR site: - Welcome to DBPR Online Services (Florida Department of Business and Regulation).
